I always
understood this verse as being between man and
God. Only today, I started to believe that it is
even worse when it is between man and man.
Why did the
bible say so? What is wrong in promising and not
keeping the promise? Does it hurt?
Yes, it does.
When you promise something or vow to do
something. There would be a man, a lady, a kid,
a whole family or even a nation, depending on
who you are, that will hold onto this promise.
Your promise is only a group of words that come
out of your lips but to them it could mean life,
happiness, dignity… etc.
If you are
keen to keep your promise they can be very
happy. But if you don’t!!! You are hurting
badly.
Let me add,
if this promise comes from someone in a higher
rank, i.e. from a parent or a teacher to a child
or from a priest to one of his congregation
…etc. it hurts even more.
So please do
not promise unless you are 100% sure that you
are doing what you promised. If you are not sure
you would be able to do what you wish to do, DO
NOT UTTER A WORD.
